Today the Catholic Church throughout the world celebrates the feast of the Queenship of Mary. It is only fitting that this title be attributed to Mary, she being the mother of Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe.
It is celebrated today becasue this day is the Octave (eighth day) of the feast of the Assumtion of Mary, the end of that celebrated feast.
