Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time:

Some questions for today:

What does "choosing wisdom" look like in today's world?

How have I demonstrated that choice in my own life?

Do I really believe that the Word of God is living and effective in the place and time and circumstances in which I find myself?

Could I, do I, drop everything to follow Christ Jesus?

Like the man in the Gospel, is there anything that weighs down on me that keeps me from the freedom that Christ offers?

"All through our life Christ is calling us. He called is first in Baptism, but afterwards also, whether we obey His voice or not, He graciously calls us still. If we fall from our Baptism, He calls us to repent; if we are striving to fulfill our calling, He calls us on from grace to grace, and from holiness to holiness, where life is given us." John Henry Cardinal Newman
