13th Sunday in Ordinary Time: June 27, 2010

........... .......... ............ ............. ..........

In our Gospel reading this morning, Jesus begin His journey to Jerusalem. With the Church, we, too, are on the road with Jesus. Let us consider how our life is a pilgrimage - where it's been, is now, and is going.

........

What has been your road?

........

What are you following?

Being called by God, we once thought, was rare and special. It is actually a universal invitation.

Biblical call stories reveal real people in ordinary situations being summoned into the extraordinary vocation of doing God's will.

Saying "yes" or "no" to God's call is our prerogative. But an immediate, decisive, and unconditional response is required.

"God is a devouring fire. God has cast His eyes on you ... Take care, He is crafty, He begins with a little love, a small flame, and before you can realize it for what it is, He catches hold of you and you are taken."
Hans Urs von Balthasar
