In our Gospel reading this morning, Jesus begin His journey to Jerusalem. With the Church, we, too, are on the road with Jesus. Let us consider how our life is a pilgrimage - where it's been, is now, and is going.
........
What has been your road?
........
What are you following? ........
Being called by God, we once thought, was rare and special. It is actually a universal invitation.
Biblical call stories reveal real people in ordinary situations being summoned into the extraordinary vocation of doing God's will.
Saying "yes" or "no" to God's call is our prerogative. But an immediate, decisive, and unconditional response is required.
"God is a devouring fire. God has cast His eyes on you ... Take care, He is crafty, He begins with a little love, a small flame, and before you can realize it for what it is, He catches hold of you and you are taken." Hans Urs von Balthasar
On the Feast of the Sacred Heart, 2009, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, initiated a full year for special prayer for all priests around the world. This past Friday, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, 2010, this unique year of prayer came to a conclusion. Please continue to remember us priests in your prayers. To mark this special day, a Mass was celebrated at Holy Spirit Parish in Pensacola:

One can imagine how good it must have felt for Jesus, after a long day of walking, to have His feet washed and anointed with oil. . How do you cope with the stresses of daily life and your responsibilities?
Where and how do you find rest and renewal when you really need it?
.
"Forgiveness is God's invention for coming to terms with a world in which, despite their best intentions, people are unfair to each other and hurt each other deeply. He began by forgiving us. And He invites us all to forgive each other." Lewis B. Smedes

This picture is a charcoal sketch of the Virgin Mary drawn by my Aunt, Clara Buck, at the age of 16. She died in the 1970's at the age of 82. This one drawing remains with its wrinkles, water spots and love. I have it hanging in my home at well over 100 years old
