Divorce in the Christian religion is not to be taken lightly. “I’m tired of him/her and found a younger/richer/prettier person to become my husband/wife; I hate her cooking; he's grouchy......” are not reasons enough.
Yet, why is it that although the Christian Church obviously discourages divorce, the Christian dominated country, the U.S., has the highest rate of divorce in the world? But even more intriguing: why is the most conservative Christian group leading all denominations in divorce
Barna report:Variation in divorce rates among U.S. Christian faith groups:
Evangelical, non-denominational (majority are fundamentalist)-34%
Baptists-29%
Mainline Protestants-25%
Mormons-24%
Catholics-21%
Why is it that the U.S. Bible Belt has not only the highest rate of divorce, but also the most children out of wedlock? Perhaps it is time to take Marriage and Divorce much more seriously. Especially the effects of divorce on children?
