Sunday June 5: The Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into Heaven

The church gathers to celebrate a spectacular event: the raising of Jesus to
God. Today’s Gospel reading offers a description of the sheer drama of Christ’s exaltation which the disciples witnessed.

Other details important to today’s disciples, that is – us, however, might get lost in the glory.
One is the promise to send the Spirit, to be fulfilled at Pentecost (which we celebrate next Sunday); the Spirit will empower the disciples to be witnesses
for Jesus.

Another is the promise that Christ will come again.
.
What good word can you offer to people who wonder what they are to do in this time between Jesus’ Ascension and return?
.
Believe in Jesus Christ. Witness to Him.
.
Help make the kingdom of God come on earth as it in heaven.

St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Biloxi. The previous Church, etc was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina so this complex is new and was just opened in January:
