Not as Popular as He used to be!

This 13 year old Middle School student from Paramus, NJ was suspended, sent home, from school for wearing this Jesus look-a-like costume to the school's Halloween celebration.

Haha ... interesting that a day which has deep "religious" roots (apart from the old Celtic rites) would balk at a child wearing a costume which as the school says:

"was offensive to some students" and "the costume was disruptive to other students".

What a blessing if Jesus were more of a disruption !

Why do we pray for the dead?

St. Odilo, a Benedictine monk in the 10th century, instituted All Soul’s Day to follow All Saints Day, although we know that the dead were prayed for from the earliest days of Christianity.

Praying for the dead—think about what that act says about Christians. Why do Christians pray for the dead? We pray because we hope, and as Saint Paul says, “Hope does not disappoint.”

Our hope this day is that death is not the last word; that loved ones who have gone before us now dwell in the house of the Lord; and that, we, too, through our faithfulness, will pass from death into life.

Liberty and the Persuit of Happiness ... something missing here?

Being a twin myself,
having been in a womb myself,
I love this picture.

The 2008 presidential campaigns will end Nov. 4 when the nation votes. But they will have seen an unprecedented activity by one very small group of American leaders: Catholic bishops.
Most have shared the attitude of Bishop Larry Silva of Honolulu — that “one issue alone far outweighs all others: the right to life.”

In unusually strong language, bishops have denounced abortion and directed voters away from pro-abortion candidates — so much so that Americans United for Separation of Church and State has threatened to sue at least one bishop. According to USA Today, the group sent a letter to the Internal Revenue Service accusing Bishop Arthur Serratelli of Paterson, N.J., of illegal partisanship.

Kinda windy ....

Eventually, it must happen to every Pope and Bishop.
